1) Punjab is known as sapta sindhu region mentioned in rig veda. 1) saraswati (ghaggar) 2) vipasa(beas) 3) Satadru (Sutlej) 4) Asikani (Chenab) 5) Iravti (Ravi) 6) Viasta (Jhelum) 7) Sindhu (Indus).
2)In Around 800-400BEC Punjab is known as Trigarta.
3) Punjab is shared boundery with J&K from north, Himachal Pradesh , Harayana from south, Rajasthan from southwest and one international boundary with pakistan from west.
4) In 1966 punjab was divided into three part on the basis of language. Those three parts punjab, Haryana and himachal pradesh.
5) Punjab is sixteenth largest state by population. It has 22 districts.
6) Acc to census 2011 population of punjab state is 27,704,236/

8) Punjab is largest producer of steel rolling mill plant. Which are located in mandi gobindgarh in the district Fatehgarh Sahib .Mandi Gobindgarh known as steel city of punjab.

9) The Punjab State has large wet land Areas, Birds sanctuaries.


Hari-ke-pattan: Largest wetland in northern india in the border of Tarn-Taran sahib and Ferojepur district.The head works is located downstream of the confluence of the Beas and Sutlej rivers.

Kanjli:: Kapurthala district , which subsumes the kanjli lake. It is man made wetland.
