Today we are cover topics related to Environment and
ecology .This topics are trending in every competitive exam either SSC CGL or
State Exams.
First we cover wetlands related international organizations.
Which are very important and few in numbers , so this easy to learn and I
provide you only important points related to competitive exams. So here we
start,
There are two international Organization for wetlands .
1) Ramsar convention for Wetlands
2) Montreux Record.
Ramsar Convention:-
a)It is an
intergovernmental treaty for wetlands. This convention provides framework for
national and international cooperation for conservation and sustainable
development of wetlands.
b) It is named after Iran city Ramsar in which treaty was
signed in 2 February 1971. This day 2 February also known as world
wetland day.
c) The secretariat of
Ramsar convention is based at the headquarters of the international Union for
the Conservation of Nature(IUCN) in gland, Switzerland.
d) Last meeting of COP13(Conference of Parties) was held
in Dubai, in October 2018.
There are 26 ramsar sites in India.
2) Montruex Record:- It is a register of wetland sites
which are registered in Ramsar convention record. Where changes in ecological
character have occurred , are occurring, as a result of technological
developments, pollution or other human interference.

Chilka lake of odisha was
removed from montruex record in 11 nov. 2002. Due to efforts of governments and
public to conserves there biodiversity.
